Employee Spotlight: Meet Ben

Ben is an executive sales rep, and has been a member of the Paycom family since May 2015. Recently, I reached out and asked him to share his story.

 Describe what you do.

I help companies drive performance and productivity for their employees, while reducing the overhead cost of employment.

Employee Spotlight: Meet BenWhat advice would you give a new employee for being successful at Paycom?

Learn as much as you can! We work in a complex industry, which creates an incredible opportunity to expand your knowledge of how businesses work. Be coachable and listen to those who are successful around you.

What’s the one word you would choose to describe Paycom, and why?

Motivated. I’ve never been surrounded by a group of people so motivated by a common purpose until now. Our executives give us incredible guidance, so while we are constantly adapting and changing to better fit the needs of our current and future clients, we move together as a unit.

What is your greatest accomplishment at Paycom?

My greatest accomplishment is creating value every day for prospective clients. Our technology allows us to solve complex business problems. It’s very rewarding to walk away from a successful client transition knowing that we were able to collaborate and find a solution to their problems.

What makes you proud to work at Paycom?

Teamwork. From working with other departments during a transition, to the comradery within the sales team, I feel like we are all motivated to achieve greatness. I can’t stress enough how critical each person of the team is, and the work they do to support the clients that sales brings on is just remarkable. It’s so nice to know that I can trust our support team to take great long-term care of the folks I’ve come to love working with as a new client.

My family takes a trip to Galveston every year, and it’s something we’ve done for as long as I can remember. It’s not so much about the location as it is the people.

What are some of your favorite hobbies outside of work?

I love to stay active. I play as much soccer as I can and I even coached a Little League team with a few friends as a way to reconnect with the game. Outside of that, I enjoy going to movies – something about the big screen fascinates me. Could also be the popcorn!

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained one quality or ability, what would it be and why?

This year, I have been focused on empathy. I find I have the most fun and success when I’m focused on improving the quality of life for others. If I could wake up tomorrow having accomplished that, I could get started on another area that needs improvement and be that much closer to being an expert in my field.
