Employee Spotlight: Meet Renee
Renee is an executive sales rep and has been a member of the Paycom family since June 2016. Last week, I reached out and asked her to share her story.
What advice would you give a new sales employee for being successful at Paycom? Be disciplined. You are learning so much your first year at Paycom. The more disciplined and focused you are that first year, the more autonomy you will have in the years to come. You will be able to accomplish hard tasks much more efficiently, creating more time. You will be able to produce greater results, and in return will have much more financial freedom as well. When I first started at Paycom, I quickly understood that an early investment of discipline would produce efficiency down the road.”
Describe what you do.
I am an executive sales representative and like to consider myself a “rainmaker.”
Living in the northwest I know that rain helps all things grow. That’s why I consider myself a “rainmaker” because my main goal is to support my local community’s growth. I love the people I serve and I am passionate about the success of our community.
A large part of supporting this growth is meeting with executives to understand what types of processes could produce efficiency gains for their company. Utilizing the best HR technology on the market to support these gains allows me to help each client grow.
My days are fast-paced! I will be meeting with an owner of a company one hour, conducting hands-on training with my clients the next, all while constantly hunting for new potential partners. I am always surprised when I notice my golden hours have ended and I feel blessed to have another day at Paycom to do it all again!
What’s the one word you would choose to describe Paycom, and why?
Organic. Paycom has the only HCM technology on the market that was grown organically. Also, I chose the word “organic” because the personal growths I have seen over the past year! Paycom provides all the tools we need to grow in both our professional and personal life. All levels of management crave success for everyone and they care about individuals on a personal level. The authentic growth that they nurture provides a sustainable work environment that is exciting and fun! I am blessed to work for a company that cares so deeply about developing and growing their workforce.
What is your greatest accomplishment at Paycom?
My greatest accomplishment at Paycom is my next one. I love to work in an environment where constantly I am raising the bar of what I can accomplish.
I have had some great milestones, like gaining executive rep status. Also, I was able to quickly pay off my student loans and create a college fund in honor of a family member passing. Now I can afford to live in one of my very favorite places in Portland, Downtown Waterfront.
Although I am blessed to have accomplished so much, I feel that this is just the beginning of an amazing career. A career is a marathon – not a sprint – and therefore, my greatest accomplishment is always the one in front of me!
What makes you proud to work at Paycom?
There are a lot of things that make me proud to work at Paycom, but I can describe most of these moments in one word: development.
Having the opportunity to work with team Portland, I have seen so much development on a professional and personal level. My manager Kristen constantly shares this quote that I love to live by: “If you aren’t evolving, you’re dying.”
That is so true for me! My proudest moments are talking with my team about how we have grown. It’s so rewarding to reflect on things that used to be difficult and now are the easiest parts of our career.
Where has been your favorite place to travel, and why?
Actually, my favorite place to travel is right here in Oregon. My family and I would spend a lot of our vacations at a resort in Sunriver. It’s a quiet place that has more bicycles than cars. Wildlife is all around you, and the resort is scattered with cabins. You get to enjoy the sun in the summer and fresh snow in the winter. It is a little nature wonderland.
Also, Sunriver is my favorite because it holds some of my most fond memories with my family. It will always be my preferred place to travel!
What are some of your favorite hobbies outside of work?
I feel like I am a little bit of a “hobby hopper.” I always like to switch things up. Lately I have been really invested in my health, because a happy body means a happy mind! I have been learning how to love running and it’s actually very rewarding to be making new personal records. Running also allows me to focus on myself and what I am thankful for with no interruptions. I have begun to really value this time! I also love photography because I think it is important to capture all the small, beautiful moments in life.
If you could pick anyone in the world to have lunch with, who would it be and why?
Being in outside sales you get the opportunity to spend time in your car. During this time I try to fill my brain with positive things, so I enjoy listening to podcasts. One of my favorite podcasts to listen to is Tony Robbins. His outlook on life is beautiful. He believes in living a life of great abundance and being grateful, but also values taking ownership and putting your words into action. He is so energetic about life. I would love to have lunch with him and learn more about how he is able to inspire so many people and how he inspires himself.
