Employee Spotlight: Meet Kyle
Kyle has been a member of the Paycom family since 2016. Last week, I reached out and asked him to share his story.
I meet with executives along the Connecticut coastline to uncover areas of opportunity within their current HR and payroll processes. I then present them with the Paycom technology that will help automate their processes and, in turn, improve the company’s bottom line.
What advice would you give a new employee for being successful at Paycom?
Take advantage of all the resources Paycom offers, including your manager, your initial training and numerous, ongoing employee-development courses. There’s no other place that helps you expedite your career. The first year can be challenging while you build up your territory, but once you make a few sales, you will feel more comfortable.
What’s the one word you would choose to describe Paycom, and why?
Friendships. It’s so easy to make friends with everyone who works here. I legitimately consider every person in my office a friend, which is rare in a lot of companies.
What is your greatest accomplishment at Paycom?
My greatest accomplishment is making it to executive-sales-rep status within my first year. It was definitely tough, but everyone in my office was – and still is – so supportive. No matter how tough your day is, there is always someone willing to take time out of his or her schedule to help talk you through the situation.
When you work at Paycom, you have the opportunity to become the owner of your territory. Especially in sales, everyone has a different skill set, so having the ability to be as creative and unique as you want to accomplish your goals is very empowering. It’s hard to find another job that allows you that autonomy.
Where has been your favorite place to travel, and why?
Lake Placid. I have family who lives right on the lake, and we visit them every other summer. Going out on the boat in the crystal-clear water and visiting the site of the Olympics is unbelievable.
What are some of your favorite hobbies outside of work?
My friends and I play sports any chance we get. Whether it’s pick-up basketball, football or joining a men’s league, as long as I’m outside and active I’m happy.
If you could wake up tomorrow having gained one quality or ability, what would it be and why?
I would love the ability to teleport. Not only would you be able to do things like go to Italy for lunch on a whim, but you would never have to deal with the pains of traveling again.
